DTC Applications Now Available for Massachusetts

DTC Applications Now Available for Massachusetts

On November 21st, the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) issued an Advisory detailing the new direct-to-consumer wine shipping law and, more importantly, making available the forms necessary to apply for the license.

Massachusetts was previously only available through 3-tier distribution networks, yet despite that limitation was one of the top states in shipping volume for WineDirect clients because of its desirability.  Massachusetts ranks 4th in the nation in per capita wine consumption according to data from the Beverage Information Group.  Now, gaining direct access to Massachusetts' consumers is easier, less costly and more efficient.  The costs and rules for direct shipping are reasonable, particularly considering the potential the state offers.  The license fee is $300 for the first year and $150 per year thereafter, and a license holder may ship up to twelve 9-liter cases to any adult consumer per year.  It’s a tremendous opportunity for wineries, particularly smaller to mid-size producers.

The new law takes effect on January 1, 2015 so don't delay!  Here's a link to the website where the application can be downloaded.
