In-Transaction Compliance

Your orders are checked for compliance with state-based shipping rules and volume limitations.

Compliance Check at the Point-of-Purchase via WineDirect eCommerce Settings and Integration with ShipCompliant

System-guided, consumer friendly messages allow you to set proper expectations regarding both compliance and shipping timelines. Using our state-based compliance settings, you display only the wines which are available for purchase in the state selected by your customer, alleviating the frustration which often occurs when the customer learns, too late in the purchase process, that you cannot ship wine to his or her state.

In addition, we offer an optional integration with ShipCompliant, which means that your orders are checked for compliance with state based volume limitations at the time of sale. In order to optimize the customer experience, any non-compliant orders are placed in a quarantine state for later follow up by your customer service staff. This allows you to modify or hold orders for shipment at a later date, depending on instructions from your customers.

Compliance Check at the Point-of-Shipment via WineDirect Fulfillment Settings and Our Rules Database

Orders shipped via WineDirect Fulfillment are checked for compliance before shipment. First, we check against the state permit information provided by you at setup to ensure that a direct ship permit is in place and that you have instructed us to ship orders to that state. In addition, we maintain a database of quantity limit rules for each combination of state and shipping method. At your instruction, we check each order for compliance with the quantity limits of the destination state, comparing the order against the customer’s order history (based on last name and ship-to address) and relevant state rules. If quantity limits are exceeded for a particular order, the order is placed in a pending state and you are notified immediately. As soon as we receive instructions from you, the order is released.
